So after a nice snooze courtesy of Premier inn Aldgate, who have good sized lifts so that bike complete fits in to get to room. Followed by a fine breakfast staffed by lovely people.
Off to the start of avenue vert it is. So a quick 3miles dicing with London fast commuter cyclists to the London eye…the offical start. Paused at the merchant seamen memorial….to those lost at sea with know known grave….over 20000 listed.
Nearby is all hallows church where the bell of the vessel “British Trent” of my old company is located, one year before i started work( 9 men where killed due to collision and fire (25,000 tonne of unleaded petrol on board. Men from England, Ireland and Sierra Leone where killed, many in there 20’s

London eye… still looking good 22years on.

So off it is south…repeating a bit I did last year to coulsdon where you can look back after crossing the valley and climbing the hill and see the towers of the city 20 miles north.

Then M25 is again crossed this time over the top

And then to redhill, Gatwick(the worst bit so far…poor signage lead me onto dual carriageway for half mile….not nice. Then through Crawley….enough said about that spot. Then hard left and onto off road ex rail track’s at last.
Followed these rest of the day mainly to the small village of Hartfield, home of AA milne and Christopher Robin and of course Winnie the pooh. Camping at stairs farm, quite only one other resident.
