I started super early today was awake at 6am, and on the road by 8pm….last night was intresting in that i was just ready for sleep when BANG…BOOM ….CRACKLE. someone (I guess in the town) having a serious old firework display….I peeked out but could not see, however the whole site could hear….the French lady in adjacent tent said she did not know why the occurred….but a bit off on a weeknight..she was going to work at 8am.
So after the rain last night outer tent very wet….but in the dry sack it went.
Out of town a fairly steep accent over a few km through the forest….made it to top but some choice words where yelled in motovation.
At the top it was then down a tarred forest track…with barrier so no traffic…after several km a man was just coming out the woods from a sublime large grassy field. He started speaking in french…and then in perfect English said would I like tea….just putting the water on.
This was William and he was French from the Paris area doing his first bike trip…Paris to mont st Michel and st malo in a week….putting nearly 90km a day.
His camp was ideal but lots of insects appeared at 8pm…so hide in tent time.
We had tea and chatted then i waited while he packed all his kit up….z very different set up to mine ‘bikpacking’style.
So we cycled together for the next 10 or 12km to domfont… after finding most places closed found an open one and had coffee and Perrier water together. An unexpected but heat few hours.

He left to get to mt st Michel…I went to look round domfont.
It has a rather odd church only built in 1924, the went to town with reinforced concrete and came up with quite a building….a huge central dome and mosaics…

It was then a very steep decent out of town onto another old rail line…

This track was just perfect….wide flag and smooth gravel. I carried on down here to the turn of to mortain where I was going to stop the night….quite a climb up.

33miles done….the end was funny on the last hill a bunch of school kids….12 or 13…where astounded the size of bike and that not only had I come from Paris but London!…I joked that living here all will have strong legs….it’s hilly.

Off to have a meal out….there are three choices.
The big news 1031km 614miles from home….prob a little extra not recorded.
