So after 93km yesterday i did not want to go all the way to parthaney as it would be another 90 plus km day…..so you have guessed it ended up going all the way.
Planned to stop at a campsite at a resevoir….not much info on it, but owned by local community.
Started off fine lots of quite lanes…no traffic to speak off, making my way some of the time on the dead straight road to loudon, the only bend being when the romans found the hill too steep. Came accross this pillar in the the road, no idea its reasoning but was about a mile past a chateau why they did not just go round it one way?

This road is one of those French specials….new tarmac..utter smooth, no traffic and really goes nowhere usefull.
After Loudon…the road again became dead straight, wide going through wheat fields, with a slight down slope and tail wind and nearly zero traffic it was lovely.
Next was the intresting places of moncontour which has an ancient donjon or defensive tower.

Followed by the even more intresting little village which has the Abbaye Saint Jouin De Marnes in it. Village itself parked on a hill top and has busy road going through it. A light controlled one way system in place. Apart from the Abbey and road…nothing else there. It was there while sat on shady bench that Flynn and his wife cycled up the hill….chatted for 5min and then they where off. I would catch up later on with them.
So through the town of airvault where a quick visit to the intermarch to buy dinner, and then the steep climb up to the campsite at craon on a resevoir.
Well it physicly existed and was allegedly open, flys very bad…tried to phone the number and got long answer phone message. I then thought I will camp anyway…until l I noted the bashed manky looking panel vans and caravans at far end….then small aggressive yappy dog came over and would not leave me alone, follows me as i leave. I surmise that this lot where the dreaded TRAVELERS and so decided to hit the road for another 20k.
The less about that journey the better, most direct route was busy road…not the best to cycle on…anyhow after the sprint reached campsite at 1910hrs….imhaled a Heineken and set up camp, cooked the pork and slept….never again.
